Goodnight Greenville Book
Written by pediatrician Joe Maurer & illlustrated by Joseph Bradley
Have you ever had a child in the hospital? Besides being incredibly overwhelmed and anxious, you feel very thankful for the nurses, doctors, therapists, and other staff who work day and night to help your family through that difficult time.
One way that you can show support for the awesome people at the GHS Children’s Hospital is to purchase the new book Goodnight Greenville, written by GHS pediatrician Joe Maurer and illustrated by local artist Joseph Bradley. All proceeds from the book go directly to the Children’s Hospital’s Child Life program, which operates on donations.
What is the book about?
Goodnight Greenville follows the format of the beloved children’s book Goodnight Moon, taking the reader to many of Greenville’s landmarks to say goodnight. The hardback book has easy-to-read text and full-page artwork. The illustrations are fascinating and attractive, and while they are somewhat abstract, all of the locations are instantly identifiable. My six-year-old was very excited to see many places that he recognized, pointing to the pages and exclaiming, “I’ve been there!” He was especially thrilled to see Greenville’s downtown trolley and the Greenville Zoo included.
This book is a must-have for families in Greenville. Not only is owning the book a great way to support our local hospital programs, the book is certain to induce a host of “remember when” stories. Our family has enjoyed looking at the pages, reminiscing about the times that we have been to each place and the fun memories that we have. This book would also make an excellent gift for grandparents or out-of-town family!
