This painting measures 60 inches in diameter with a 2 inch edge gilded in gold. I begin with graphite drawing on the wood surface, adding multiple layers of oil paint, washes, glazes, and metal-leaf.  Each of my paintings has about 30 layers.

"The Wild Beneath" features Trout, an uprooted tree I spotted at Bear Lake, Colorado - and lots of underwater flora.  Some of the plant structures are leafed in gold.
